USB hardware isn't ideal for high-rate data transfer, hence their inability to handle anything above 2Mbps. ISPs must have known this, I think it's criminal that they've been able to sell customers technology which they known full well won't allow customers to get anything near 8Mbps. I agree. At least USB modems may finally begin to disapear from the market in favour of the more suitable and robust router alternatives.
