Virgin Media launches mobile broadband service
Virgin Media is the latest company to jump on the mobile broadband bandwagon.
Costing £15 a month on a minimum 18 month contract, Virgin Media’s mobile broadband package will include a free USB modem and 3GB of monthly downloads – enough for 2,000 emails, 100 hours of web surfing, 200 music tracks and 100 two minute videos. Users who exceed the cap will be charged £15 for every extra gigabyte they use. Existing Virgin Media customers on the company’s XL home broadband package will receive the first three months of mobile broadband service free.
Already Virgin Media is Britain’s second most popular Internet Service Provider with around four million customers. A virtual network, Virgin mobile runs its services on T-Mobile’s network which emerged as the fastest UK network in a recent survey by computer magazine PC Pro.
“The launch of our Mobile Broadband product means UK consumers can now get all of their broadband needs from the UK’s leading broadband expert,” said Virgin Media’s CEO Neil Berkett.
“We’re perfectly placed to offer advice on the best broadband packages available, across a range of gadgets and speeds. Virgin Media already provides the fastest broadband in the UK over our fibre optic network and now customers can enjoy our broadband both at home and when on the move.”
