TalkTalk from the Carphone Warehouse has launched a new customisable home phone and broadband package called MyTalkTalk - a value package which allows cutomers to pay for additional services and features.
The new package was created in response to a consumer survey which suggested that, in light of the current credit crunch, 94% of broadband users don’t want to pay for features that they don’t use, and 65% would like to pick and choose the particular services they require in their broadband package.
All MyTalkTalk customers sign up to a basic broadband and home phone package costing £6.49 a month plus £10.50 line rental. Identical in price and service to TalkTalk’s current Global Evening and Weekend package, My TalkTalk gives customers broadband speeds of up to 8Mbps, a 40GB monthly download allowance, unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines, inclusive anytime international landline calls to 36 destinations and a free wireless router.
On top of the basic package, customers can choose to add on any combination of six different booster packs, costing £4 a month each. The Speed Boost gives you faster download speeds; Download Plus lets your double your download allowance to a massive 80GB; the Security Boost brings you award winning F-Secure protection for up to three PCs; with Call Features you can personalise your home phone with useful features like Ring Back, Call Divert and Call Waiting; Anytime UK Calls gives you unlimited calls to UK landlines day or night; and half Price Calls to Mobiles does exactly what it says on the tin.
For new customers there is a one-off connection fee of £29.99. The minimum contract length is the industry standard of 18 months. Boosts can be cancelled any time after the first 30 days of activation.
“People’s communication needs are constantly changing and we need to provide a phone and broadband service that reflects this,” said Wendy Becker, managing director of the TalkTalk Group. “Great value is still the number one priority – and myTalkTalk offers an identical service ‘pound-for-pound’ to our existing free broadband package – but choice and transparency are now high on the agenda.”
