Virgin Media: Free 50Mbps Netbook offer RSS

virgin-media-freedom-netbookVirgin Media is launching the Freedom Netbook, its own range of branded laptops which will be offered to new and existing Virgin Media customers. The Freedom Netbook is worth over £300 and will be capable of connecting to the web at speeds of 50Mbps.

The launch of the Freedom Netbooks is timed to coincide with the rollout of 50Mbps speeds across the cable network. The Netbooks themselves will be offered free to customers who sign up with a 24 month Virgin Media bundle.

Currently the Freedom Netbook is available with a bundle consisting of  Virgin Media Broadband L (up to 10Mbps, unlimited downloads) Phone M (unlimited weekend UK calls) and the 1GB Mobile Broadband plan. This bundle starts of out at £20 a month for the first 3 months, rising to £29 a month thereafter.

The specs of the Virgin Media Freedom Netbook are as follows:

  • 10.2″ backlit LCD screen
  • Microsoft Windows XP (inc. Service Pack 3)
  • Microsoft Works suite
  • 120GB Hard Drive
  • 1GB RAM (DDR2 533 MHz)
  • Intel® Atom™ Processor N270, 1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 512K L2 Cache
  • PGguard security software
  • Wi-Fi – Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n

The Wi-Fi capabilities of the Freedom Netbook mean you’ll be able to surf on the move thanks to the mobile broadband solution, and then connect to the web to carry on working when you get home. The Virgin Media Freedom Netbook bundle is available to order online now.
