TalkTalk putting pounds back in your pockets

TalkTalk is embarking on a promotional venture with a twist – literally putting money back into people’s pockets. The ISP has hired a gang of 20 former pickpockets to roam the streets of London and slip crisp notes between £5 and £20 into the pockets of unsuspecting residents. The notes come inside a TalkTalk branded card informing the targets of the so-called ‘Put-Pockets’ where the money came from.

The TalkTalk Put-Pockets are out in force now in London, and are said to be operating in Leicester Square, Oxford Circus, Covent Garden, Westminster, Trafalgar Square and The South Bank, as well as various stops on the Underground. The Put-Pockets will continue to operate in the capital until the end of August when they’ll pack up their bags and head out to other major cities in the UK.

BT Broadband free 20Mbps Accelerator upgrade

BT Broadband has just announced that it has completed upgrades of hundreds of its exchanges which will give customers access to speeds of up to 20Mbps. 549 exchanges, serving 10 million UK homes, have been upgraded, with more homes to be added throughout the rest of the year.

What’s more is that homes eligible for an upgrade will be able to speed up for virtually nothing. Although the theoretical maximum speed available on a fully pimped ADSL2+ line is 24Mbps, BT Broadband has taken a leaf out of O2 Broadband’s book and will be advertising the top speed as being 20Mbps. This is ostensibly to advertise a more realistic top speed, as the theoretical maximum is rarely if ever experienced by broadband customers.

Orange Mobile Broadband for less than £5

Orange has just announced a new addition to its mobile broadband roster – mobile broadband for less than £5 a month. The new 18 month Orange Internet Everywhere tariff costs just £4.89 a month. gives you speeds of up to 3.6Mbps and 500MB of usage per month and is available to all Orange home broadband and mobile customers (inc. pay monthly and pay as you go). A Huawei E160e dongle, available in either black, white or pink, is also bundled free with Orange Internet Everywhere. Orange Internet Everywhere is an ideal bolt-on style mobile broadband solution for those who need to get online to send and receive emails for work or college a few times a month, but don’t want to have to sign up for a more expensive contract. 500MB per month will more than suffice for light internet use, but if you want to watch YouTube videos on the go and listen to music on Spotify, then we’d recommend that you check out some of Orange’s heavier packages. Similar plans are available for £14.68 and £24.47 a month, which gives you 3GB and 10GB of usage respectively.
