Sky is helping those getting ready for the Digital Switchover save money with a Sky+ and Sky HD TV bundle deal.
OK, so we know this strictly isn’t broadband-related news as the deal is based around the Sky TV packages, and it look like it will only available in those TV regions where the Digital Switchover is taking place. But you have to have Sky TV in order to get Sky Broadband and of course, Sky Broadband Base (up to 2Mbps, 2GB, £15 set up) is included free with a basic Sky TV and Sky Talk bundle deal.
Currently people living in the Granada TV region are undergoing the switchover. The next places to shut down the analogue signal and convert to digital are, according to the Sky site Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and north Staffordshire. The switchover process consists of two phases, Stage 1 and 2. In the Granada region, Stage 1 is due to commence on Wednesday the 4th of November. Stage 2 will follow on Wednesday the 2nd of December.
So if you’re in these areas you can qualify for a free Sky+ or Sky HD box when you join Sky TV and sign up for landline calls and broadband whilst you’re at it.
Alternatively you could plump for the faster Sky Everyday package which also provides a more generous download limit (up to 8Mbps, 10GB, £15 set up) for an extra £5.00 a month on top of your Sky TV and Talk package. £10.00 a month gets you the premium Sky Unlimited product which gives you top speeds of 16Mbps (where ADSL2+ is available) and unlimited downloads. There’s also no initial set-up fee for Sky Unlimited, so when taken with a TV package in a region that’s switching over you’ll be able to get multi-channel digital TV and unlimited broadband with no extra set up costs.
