Tiscali UK finally says arrivederci RSS

TalkTalk has completed its takeover of Tiscali, retiring the brand name in the process. “From today, the Tiscali brand is no more and we’re committed to giving all of our customers absolute clarity about who we are, the services we provide and the prices we charge,” said Charles Dunstone, TalkTalk’s CEO.

TalkTalk tariffs are now standardised meaning that the majority of customers should see a reduction in their bills, although in some cases prices could rise.

“We’ve reviewed all of the pricing tariffs and can say from today that if you’re with TalkTalk you’re getting the same value as your fellow customers. For many of our customers this will mean a reduction in their monthly bills, others will see no change with the remainder getting a small increase.”

Former Tiscali subscribers who paid £14.99 for standalone broadband will be charged an extra £5 per month if they don’t sign up for TalkTalk’s home phone service.

The end of the Tiscali brand is fitting in a way given the company’s own history of ISP buyouts and rebrands. In 2007 Tiscali acquired Pipex, who had previously taken over ISPs Toucan and Bulldog.
