BT Broadband with Sky Sports: prices announced today! RSS

bt-logo6BT has confirmed its pricing structure for the imminent arrival of popular sports channels Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2, and it looks like BT customers can be very pleased with the final result.

A package deal for Sky Sports 1 and 2 will cost BT customers £16.99 per month, on a month-by-month contract. Either channel can be purchased individually for £11.99, but a 12 month BT Broadband and BT Vision contract is required.

BT customers who take up the 24 month contract of BT Broadband and calls can take advantage of the BT Total Sports Package; £6.99 for Sky Sports 1, ESPN and on demand sport, or £11.99 to include Sky Sports 2 as well.

According to BT, the £11.99 bundle deal, excluding line rental, works out £205 cheaper than Sky’s current equivalent, and £281 cheaper than that of Virgin Media.

Customers can sign up from today, which will delight avid football fans awaiting the start of the Premier League season on August 14th. This coming season will see over 100 games broadcast live on Sky Sports, whilst there is also exclusive coverage of Champions League football, golf, rugby union and cricket including the Winter Ashes in Australia.

BT Retail chief executive Gavin Patterson said: “Football fans will be cheering our new prices, which mark an end to paying for basic channels when you only want the sport.

“A more competitive market will ensure that customers continue to get the best sport for the sharpest prices and this opening of the market will be in the best interests of customers.”

The prices are a direct result of Ofcom’s prior ruling that Sky must sell its sports channels at a reduced wholesale cost to other providers such as BT.
