AOL announces new appointment

AOL has announced the appointment of a new president of global advertising and strategy this week - revealing the role will be filled by an ex-employee of the web's most popular internet search engine.
Jeff Levick, former vice-president of industry development and marketing for Google's Americas business, will step into the new and expanded position over the next few weeks, according to his new employers.
Commenting on the appointment, AOL chairman and chief executive officer Tim Armstrong - to whom Mr Levick will report directly to - said he was confident the new addition to the team would help the company achieve its goal of building its current line of advertising products, while retaining the quality of its current content and services.
"I've worked with Jeff for more than seven years at Google and he is absolutely the right person to drive growth in our premium ad sales, dramatically scale our Advertising.com business and further develop AOL's research initiatives and consumer insights," he added.
Mr Levick will be responsible for the company's Platform-A project, which seeks to boost its marketing business through a host of international strategies, having been a Google employee since 2001 - where he held a number of executive management positions in Europe and the US.
He explained that now was the "perfect time" to join the AOL family as there was a great deal to look forward to in the future, including building on the strong, existing audience base the firm has been able to build up over the years.
Last month, the Platform-A system launched its Targeted Text Links programme in the UK.
