AOL has announced a successful night at the recent 14th Annual EPpy Awards Luncheon, which aims to celebrate the best in online services.
The company announced that Engadget.com - which forms part of its portfolio of websites under its Mediaglow publishing arm - was selected as the winner of the Best Consumer Technology Blog at the event.
Sponsored by Editor & Publisher and MediaWeek, the event seeks to honour those it feels are providing a valuable service to broadband web users and it was the AOL site that this year impressed the judges in its assigned category.
Commenting on the announcement, senior vice-president of Mediaglow Marty Moe said the company was pleased to have been recognised for its ability to offer surfers the latest news and coverage in the consumer electronics sector.
"Engadget's cutting-edge news and commentary provides useful, interactive and engaging information for consumers as they navigate through the extensive personal technology landscape," he added.
According to data compiled by comScore in March this year, the portal is now the most visited technology blog in the US and forms part of a family of sites that include EngadgetMobile.com and EngadgetHD.com.
It is claimed by AOL that between them, these websites attract over 5.5 million unique visitors each month and are capable of generating 23 million page views across the globe during the same period.
Among last year's winners were the New York Times' DealBook, which was named Best Business Blog and the Daily Reveille which scooped the title of Best College Newspaper Web Site.
