AOL boosts broadband advertising power

AOL has announced the launch of a new service that aims to offer more marketing options for those looking to find new customers through its Platform-A division.
The firm will boost its UK offerings with Targeted Text Links, which will allow both advertisers and publishers the opportunity to deliver enhanced results within a brand-safe environment.
Powered by Quigo, the pay-per-click text marketing platform provides a range of targeting options which offer better control to the user by giving them more ways in which to place their advertising and promotions. The system does this by providing more choice when it comes to vertical categories as well as site, section and individual page selection.
Michael Steckler, Platform-A's UK managing director, said it was important for companies to keep their promotions transparent, while retaining the ability to target them effectively - something which Targeted Text Links can help with.
"Advertisers have an unrivalled ability to target their ads beyond just contextual matching to ensure high lead generation and return on investment, while publishers can directly manage the compatibility of ads against content," he added.
Targeted Text Links also incorporate an auction-style bidding model to help publishers' inventories with ad placement, as well as combined click-through-rate and cost-per-click data ranking, useful for tracking levels of performance and budget management.
Last month, AOL also offered broadband users more news and information on casual gaming with the UK launch of the FlyTrapGames website. In addition to the latest online releases, the portal also covers titles for consoles and mobile phones.
