AOL bucks the laptop trend

AOL bucks the laptop trend Clients of AOL's broadband services may be entitled to a free laptop from the firm, it has been announced.

Following a similar move by broadband provider Orange, whereby customers signing up for a special deal can receive a free laptop worth at least £300, AOL has said that it will provide consumers with a laptop when they sign up to a 24-month contract.

Customers opting to take on board the £19.99 per month deal will be billed £14.99 for delivery of the laptop, which is a DELL Inspiron kitted out with Vista Home Basic and an Intel Celeron 540 processor.

In addition, the computer is Wi-Fi enabled, has an 80 gb hard drive and a minimum of 1 gb RAM.

Existing AOL broadband users still in their minimum contract period are not permitted to take advantage of the offer.

The deal from Orange costs £14.99 per month after the introductory period which allows for the first three months to be half price.
