AOL launches new push email platform

Wednesday 20th May 2009, by Daniel King

A new email solution has been launched by AOL that provides subscribers with access to their accounts from anywhere in the world, it has emerged.

The company claims over ten million people across the globe could soon be taking advantage of the emoze platform, which makes the real-time synchronisation of messaging systems possible via mobile phones.

Compatible with handsets from manufacturers including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and Motorola, the new push email system is available to download free to AOL subscribers in the UK.

Designed to work in a way broadband PC and laptop users will already be familiar with, emoze will link multiple email addresses as well as social networking profiles from sites like Facebook when the PRO package is obtained.

Eitan Linker, chief executive of emoze, said the idea behid the offering is to provide a subscriber service that provides a secure and effective way to access web-based messaging while people are away from their computers.

"We are determined to provide all mobile phone users with the benefits of today's mobile lifestyle by delivering secure, real-time messaging, without the need to buy a special handset or expensive proprietary services," he added.

The system collates messaging and content, but only pushes it on to the enabled device when the user has opened the application and indicates that the handset is ready to receive data. AOL states this makes the offering more cost-efficient as it removes the need for the server to be continuously polled.

Other platforms that support emoze include devices from T Mobile, HTC, Dell, Siemens and Asus.
