Passenger records go online

Broadband users interested in history may now enjoy details of the complete set of passenger records of British people who travelled by long-distance ocean liner, reports the Press Association.
The records, which date from 1890 to 1960, provide details of passengers such as Vivian Leigh, Laurence Olivier and Noel Coward, as well as those of ordinary citizens looking for an adventure.
Elaine Collins, commercial director of the website findmypast.com, said: "The passenger records may very well provide a missing link for many family historians who have hit a brick wall in their research."
