Hull's broadband users 'going mobile'

Broadband users in Hull are going mobile in order to cut costs, it has been claimed.
The suggestion was made by The Carphone Warehouse, which stated that people were unhappy about the prices charged by local network provider Kingston Communications.
Michael Readings, manager of The Carphone Warehouse's Hull shop, said some local residents had complained about a lack of choice because they are unable to take advantage of the broadband deals offered by Virgin Media and TalkTalk.

Orange unveils 8mbps packages

Orange has announced that it has completed work to upgrade its home broadband network so that customers receive download speeds of up to 8mbps as standard.
To mark the change, the company has unveiled a new range of low-cost broadband packages.
New Orange mobile pay monthly customers will be offered the chance to sign up for free 8mbps fixed broadband.

TalkTalk forced to withdraw ad

Broadband supplier TalkTalk has been forced to withdraw a television advert after the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled it was misleading.
The ad featured an offer which entitled customers who signed up for TalkTalk's landline service to free broadband.
However, the free broadband package was not available everywhere in the UK because of technical restrictions.
