O2 enters laptop market

Wednesday 11th February 2009, by Daniel King

O2 is set to join the host of mobile broadband providers currently offering free laptops to its customers.

The supplier has teamed up with technology firm Samsung to create a range of exclusive packages that will allow users to connect with style, reliability and security.

Customers will be able to choose from three new Pay Monthly broadband bundles, available from February 27th, which O2 chief executive officer Ronan Dunne believes will "tick every box".

The laptops on offer include Samsung's NC10 mini-laptop, which could be ideal for business users looking to access web and email facilities on the move.

Subscribers can also pick up the R510 model and will receive setup support from O2 as well as a two-year extended warranty.

Mr Dunne hopes the firm's move into the market will help remove the "worry factor" involved in buying a laptop.

"Our bundle packages, unique amongst those currently on the market, provide customers with everything they need and we are confident they will move people away from traditional laptop providers and into our stores," he commented.

The company recently came out on top in a survey to find the best mobile and fixed broadband providers in the UK in terms of customer satisfaction.

O2 beat off competition from rivals such as Virgin, Sky and T-Mobile to take first place in the study by JD Power and Associates.

The firm's marketing director Peter Rampling said the outcome was fantastic recognition for its emphasis on "getting the customer experience right" for both its mobile and home broadband services.
