A recently published survey citing O2 as a web services Best Buy has elaborated on how the individual entrants performed in their respective categories.

Released earlier this month, PC Advisor's 2009 Broadband Survey celebrated its fifth year by once again comparing consumer satisfaction with products from a range of providers.

People were asked their opinions on the reliability of their connection, as well as the download speeds they were able to achieve and the level of service they receive when contacting their chosen supplier.

As previously announced, O2 took the top slot having achieved an overall rating of 4.5 out of a possible five stars, this was followed by BE Broadband, PlusNet and Zen Internet, which attained a score of four.

BT Broadband came up next with 3.5, although this was the same number for two of its rivals Sky Broadband and Virgin Media. TalkTalk, AOL and Tiscali were then listed at the bottom with 2.5 stars each.

However, in terms of overall satisfaction, Zen was the highest on the list with 94.5 per cent, followed by O2 (92.3 per cent) and BT (90.4 per cent). The first of these also came out on top for reliability with 93 per cent.

Scores for technical support and customer service listed BE Broadband, O2 and Tiscali in order of merit, although the survey confirmed that Orange was a close fourth.

O2 took the prize for speed and was listed among the four companies PC Advisor said people would recommend - alongside Zen, BE and PlusNet.
