BBC and Adobe join forces for iPlayer

The BBC has linked up with one of the world's largest software companies in order to roll-out its iPlayer download system.
Adobe Systems will add its Adobe Flash Player software to the iPlayer platform, which will enable users of Macintosh and Linux computers to access the system.
Erik Huggers, BBC Future Media and Technology group controller, said: "I'm delighted to announce this strategic relationship with Adobe. It is important to ensure that BBC iPlayer is available on as many platforms as possible."
Earlier this year, a number of broadband service providers expressed that they were unhappy with the introduction of platforms such as the iPlayer, with some threatening to charge the BBC if it took up too much bandwidth.
A trial version of the iPlayer was made available in July and a full launch is expected by the end of the year.
