BT boosts box with Bolly bonanza

Broadband users may be more tempted to consider the benefits of switching providers this week as one company has announced an addition to its bundled package.

Those signing up with BT get the option to take on the firm's television service and may be keener to do so after it was revealed that more on-demand programming was to be on offer via the facility.

BT Vision users will now get access to a pay-per-view portal titled Bolly and Beyond, where they will be able to pick from a wide selection of shows from south Asia.

The move also includes the signing of a five-year deal with MoMedia International and Shemaroo Entertainment that aims to bring the freshest content to the package - which is also available on a subscription basis for £6.85 per month.

Customers can expect Bollywood movies including Singh Is Kinng, which features stars of the genre Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif - and also boasts a cameo appearance from US rapper Snoop Dogg.

Luck, featuring Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Jodha Akbar and Aishwariya Rai will also feature, alongside more "classic" options like Anand.

However, TV shows will also be covered by the service, with celebrity talk show Koffee with Karan, soap operas like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi and children's programmes like Jungle Tales.

Marc Watson, chief executive of BT Vision, said: "Customers can now enter the exhilarating Bollywood world of colour, song and dance. We're bringing the best in south Asian entertainment to BT Vision customers at a bargain price."

Akshay Kumar was nominated for an Asian Film Award in the Best Actor category for Singh Is Kinng earlier this year.
