Fast connections 'enable ISPs to offer bundled services'

Faster broadband connections enable internet service providers (ISPs) to offer a higher quality of bundled services to customers.
According to Kate Bevan of the Guardian, higher internet speeds could allow ISPs to offer better bundled packages.
Her comments come after Virgin Media launched its new 50Mbps service in the UK.
This will cost £51 each month if a phone service is not purchased, or £35 a month if subscribers opt for a landline from the firm.
Ms Bevan noted that people should be able to download a 1.1GB film within 15 minutes using the new connection.
Virgin Media claimed that the average data consumption each month among its users has risen from 4.7GB to 8.6GB.
However, Ms Bevan said: "Most of us seem happy enough with 3Mbps or so."
She said that some people might question why the firm have unveiled the super-fast broadband.
The Guardian writer explained that what makes profits for ISPs like Virgin is bundled services on top of basic infrastructure.
Availability of faster connections could enable firms to offer high-definition television on demand.
Users who may find the 50Mbps connection useful are those who might be streaming a large number of video files or whose broadband will be used by a group of people.
The increased popularity of the BBC iPlayer has had some part in the decline of the average broadband speeds in the UK.
Streaming large files has put greater strain on broadband connections because a larger data allowance is required to view the videos.
