Netgear routers could create broadband on the go

People seeking high-speed broadband may wish to invest in two new routers unveiled by Netgear, which are designed to work with super-fast connections.
The routers connect to 3G, 4G and WiMAX and combine wireless internet systems with external modems.
"Our new routers offer customers a lengthy set of features unique to Netgear products catering to the home and small businesses", says Som Pal Choudhury, Netgear's senior product line manager for advanced wireless products.
They are ideally suited to homes or small businesses with a need for a reliable backup internet connection, Netgear suggests.
Advantages of the routers compared with competing models include their ability to offer failover, a more extensive range of operators, a longer wireless range, their compatibility with a higher number of wireless devices and a full-featured route.
By plugging an external modem into one of the routers, users will be able to set up a mobile wi-fi connection "almost anywhere", the firm claims.
The routers therefore open up the possibility of broadband being available on the go to customers.
Explaining the development, Mr Choudhury says: "At Netgear, we listen to our customers to determine what new features and technologies we should integrate into our products to address their individual lifestyles and business needs."
Netgear's new products could be a particularly significant success in the UK, which was recently revealed to be the second-fastest growing broadband market in the world.
The number of new connections created in Britain in the five years to the end of 2008 was smaller only than the amount in the Netherlands, according to the Office of Communications.
