O2 launch 'market-leading mobile broadband'
Wednesday 4th August 2010, by Daniel King
O2 has launched a mobile broadband tariff which allows consumers to access the internet on their laptop or PC from almost anywhere they choose.
The tariff costs £5 a month and has the additional benefit of running on a short 30-day contract. There is one additional cost for the broadband dongle, for which customers will need to pay an upfront charge of £19.99.
After this, they can plug the dongle in and their £5 a month will allow them to access up to 500 MB of data over the O2 network. On top of this, consumers will have the benefit of unlimited Wi-Fi access through hotspots delivered by The Cloud and BT Openzone.
Vishal Khakhar, head of home and broadband marketing at O2, commented: "We know that customers want to access the internet more and more and also are looking for shorter contracts.
"By offering this market leading 30 day rolling contract we are giving customers flexibility without having to top up on pay and go."
People who do not want to be tied into even a short contract may want to consider the service provider's Pay and Go Mobile Broadband Starter Kits. From £29.99, it is possible to purchase a dongle from O2 with 1GB of pre-loaded data. This allowance will expire after three months, but for those who find they need an extended allowance, data can be topped-up at any time.
Mr Khakhar said that these kits are "the perfect way to enjoy internet access when you need it".
