Broadband and communications firm BT has signed a four-year deal with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to offer broadband through the PSP games console.
The two firms plan to add wireless broadband capabilities to the handheld console, created by Sony, which will allow players to use functions such as messaging, voice and video calls.
David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, said that the partnership was "exciting".
"The opportunity to combine our market leading expertise with BT's knowledge in communications opens up many possibilities and we look forward to bringing many exciting communication functions to PSP fans," he said.
BT chief of mobility and convergence, Steve Andrews, said that the games console allowed for both "excellent gaming and communications" as a result of its high quality screen and audio capacity.
The telecoms firm also announced today that it had made a deal with food company Nestle to manage its global area network services for the forthcoming three years.
