AOL has revealed details of a new partnership it hopes will bring together lovers of popular broadband pastimes like social networking and keeping up with the latest developments in music.
The company has entered a deal with Samsung Mobile UK via its Bebo platform that will include the launch of a new homepage where visitors can provide their own content.
In addition, eight monthly live events will be arranged under the name of Samsung Bebo Nights Live at the Gibson Guitar Studio, as well as a "ground breaking" new show produced by Endemol entitled Beat.
Kate Burns, vice-president and managing director for AOL's social networking portal across Europe said the combination of solid editorial features and special events could potentially create a "powerful and engaging" platform for broadband users to take advantage of.
Mikah Martin-Cruz, Samsung UK's marketing director, commented: "The scale of this partnership is a first for Samsung and is testament to how seriously we take social networking and [
] engaging our core audiences."
He added there was also a great deal of scope for improving the relationships people have with artists.
Samsung will also launch the Beat DJ handset as part of the plans and will be hoping to take advantage of Bebo's current database of users - which according to March figures from comScore stands at over ten million per day.
Earlier this month, AOL announced Virgin Media had joined Bebo's Open Mobile initiative to provide its customers with a range of new mobile messaging and web-based facilities.
