UK residents cannot live without internet access

UK residents cannot live without internet access A recent study has found that three-quarters of the UK population cannot live without access to the internet.

The poll conducted by YouGov revealed that one-quarter of these experienced rising levels of stress if they were left without the internet, reports ISP Review.

Dr David Lewis, a psychologist, commented: "The proliferation of broadband has meant for the first time in history we've entered a culture of 'instant answers'.

"A galaxy of information is just a mouse click away and we have become addicted to the web."

Despite his claims, experts at ISP Review noted that for many, the internet was an essential tool in conducting their work.

In addition, many rely on the web to remain in contact with their friends and family and internet access is an essential part of modern social life.

Recent figures published by the Office for National Statistics revealed that 56 per cent of homes in the UK now have a broadband connection.
