Broadband users could see some changes to one of the web's most popular social networking facilities after AOL announced this week it had selected a new head of global operations.
The former internet service provider unveiled Stephane Panier as the new appointee responsible for making improvements to the online portal, as well as increasing its international reach.
Jon Brod, executive vice-president of AOL Ventures, said the decision was based on Mr Panier's strength as a strategist and his experience working with a number of the world's leading companies and brands.
He added the new employee would be the ideal person to lead the Bebo team and building on its existing successes into the future.
"The past nine months have seen us create and deliver a more relevant and open social experience for our users across both new and existing markets - and I look forward to building on this foundation," Mr Panier commented.
In addition, he said the team under him at Bebo were "strong and talented", noting that this will be useful in enhancing the current site and helping deliver a service that will make consumers happy.
Mr Panier has worked in a number of different sectors and has spent six years working for Google.
Earlier this month, AOL announced it had appointed Kate Burns as head of its European sales. It was advised her primary responsibilities would include working to improve its Advertising.com third-party network.
