Apple iPad to offer new mobile broadband option

Apple has launched the next "revolutionary" mobile broadband device - the iPad.
Just some of the functions of the iPad include allowing owners to browse the internet with a broadband connection, read and send emails, listen to music, watch videos, play games and view photographs.
"iPad is our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price," says Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive officer.
He believes that the device will allow users to interact and make the most of their apps in a more intuitive, fun and intimate way than before.
At 0.5 inches thick and weighing in at 1.5 pounds, the iPad is smaller, sleeker and lighter than many of its rivals - such as netbooks and laptops.
It will also feature 12 brand new apps, designed specially for the iPad, as well as allowing users to utilise the vast majority of the 140,000 already developed for the iPhone and in the App Store.
iPad comes with two different internet options - the first of which offers a Wi-Fi connection, while the second includes Wi-Fi and 3G - from which broadband can be obtained.
Apple intends to release the product worldwide by the end of March, with prices starting at $499 (£307) for the 16 GB model and going up to $699 (£430) for the 64 GB option.
The iPad's launch could interest many of the 56 per cent of non-internet using mobile phone owners who would like to set up a mobile broadband connection for personal use, according to Essential Research.
