Broadband 'can help people return to work pool'

Those who have been previously unable to work could find themselves able to return to employment because of the spread of broadband.
Work Wise UK has spoken about the broadband revolution, indicating that it allows more people to work from home.
Chief executive of the Work Wise UK initiative Phil Flaxton explained how it could help those with disabilities, or with carer responsibilities.
"By working from home ... they can actually get back into the work pool and technology has allowed that to happen with the widespread rollout of broadband," said Mr Flaxton.
He added that the development of mobile technology has also enhanced the accessibility of employment to people who previously may have found themselves excluded from the workplace.
The initiative released a statement last year arguing that home-working can increase productivity and "enhances work-life balance for staff".
Research by BT Business has shown that there are over two million workers based at home in the UK.
