Broadband users 'can save money' by checking in online

Wednesday 27th February 2008, by Daniel King

Until April 1st, Virgin Atlantic is rewarding customers who check in online with discount vouchers for the Retail Therapy shopping service.

Broadband users are being encouraged to use the internet to check-in, as sales and marketing director Paul Dickinson at the airline explains that it can speed up the airport process.

He commented: "[Customers] simply hand over their luggage at the bag drop desk and go straight through security, making the whole process much quicker and stress-free for them."

Once at the airport, passengers can then select their seats with specially-designed kiosks provided by Virgin Atlantic, which also make the checking-in process quicker.

The advantages of using a broadband connection to speed up a flight connection has been highlighted by Sita's latest Annual Airline IT Trends Survey, which explains that 59 per cent of all carriers are offering e-tickets for internet users in a hurry.
