Broadband-enabled console gamers enjoying zombie fun

PlayStation gamers with a solid broadband connection are taking full advantage of the opportunity to log on to the system's online network to access an undead-slaying shoot-em-up.

Burn Zombie Burn is one of the latest titles to become available via the console's web store and its developer doublesix has reported over 70,000 copies have been purchased since it hit the facility.

In addition, the firm is expecting these numbers will continue to rise as the horror game has yet to be released in Asia.

James Brooksby, studio head of doublesix, said the group was proud of the software's popularity and admitted that although this was the first time it had put out one of its products in this way, the process had been "very exciting and rewarding" so far.

PSW magazine recently suggested fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smash TV, Robotron and Monster Madness could be the right kind of target audience for Burn Zombie Burn and IGN gave the game an 83 per cent rating.

This week, it was also announced that, in partnership with Kuju Entertainment, doublesix had launched the first graveyard for the title via the PlayStation Home Space - giving broadband users who download the item an even creepier experience.

It advised that players should be warned the three crypts which feature in the new add-on will be something of a mixed bag, with two of them being filled with goodies and extras, while the other is something of a mystery.

"Curious zombie-slayers will need to master the timed mini-game if they want to discover the third crypt's secrets," it added.
