Broadband users may be interested in a recent report which suggests that email will continue in its role as the premium means of communication.
According to the Internet Advertising Bureau, the importance of email was unchallenged, highlighting the ongoing importance of high-speed internet connections to everyday life.
Programmes manager Jack Wallington explained: "Mail is cheap and it is universal - you can always contact someone with an email address no matter what email software is used. No other means of reciprocal communication on the web can claim to do this."
He added that as technology such as smartphones developed, alongside mobile broadband, there was potential for emails to overtake text messaging.
It was revealed in a study by Habeas that 67 per cent of those asked found email preferable to other methods of internet communication, such as instant messaging services which some broadband customers may use.
