Facebook 'only just getting started'

One of the most popular social networking sites on the web has announced that it is doing better than ever but will endeavour to keep building on its success way into the future.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg posted an article on the portal's official blog page this week that outlined the current status of the operation as a business, stating it was now supporting 300 million accounts worldwide.
However, he stated that although this was "a large number" there were no plans to stop growing - and achieving the goal of getting everyone connected was still very much a focus for the group.
Mr Zuckerberg went on to say that broadband users could expect to see Facebbok continue to evolve to serve the needs of its users, as it was important to make communication through the channel as fast and easy as possible.
"We face a lot of fun and important challenges that require rethinking the current systems for enabling information flow across the web," he explained.
The sustainability of the site as a business was also discussed, with the founder highlighting the fact that plans to be cash-flow positive during 2010 have already been achieved in the last quarter.
"This is important to us because it sets Facebook up to be a strong independent service for the long term," he concluded.
Mark Zuckerberg's life story is set to be adapted for a fictional movie entitled The Social Network that currently has Fight Club director David Fincher attached, as well as writer of Charlie Wilson's War and The West Wing Aaron Sorkin on screenplay duties.
