Importance of speed in the future explained

Importance of speed in the future explained Faster broadband speeds could improve the potential of internet applications, according to the founder of online community Second Life.

Philip Rosedale has spoken about the importance of developing fibre optic broadband networks, which could help sustain popular websites that use high amounts of bandwidth, reports Telappliant.

It was recently noted that the registration rate on Second Life, which offers users an entire online world, witnessed a 4.6 per cent increase in subscriptions in January, rather than the 50 per cent boost seen in October 2006.

Companies in a north Wales industrial park were reported to have complained last month about the difficulties raised by being unable to link to the local fibre optic network, according to the BBC

The Gwynedd commercial development will miss out on the cable running from Caernarfon, which some companies have said will lead to their work becoming harder.
