Improved broadband speed 'will bring new technology'

Increasing broadband speeds and improving connectivity will enable new technological advances, according to the UK's Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA).

A spokesperson for the ISPA commented on the importance of broadband and the ways that faster connections will promote more exciting developments.

"There are developments going on all the time to improve connectivity, and that has a consequence of driving technological innovation on the content and applications side," he explained, adding that remote working could play a part in the future of broadband use.

The ISPA has also signalled that more online television, more video conferencing and improved live gameplay were to be expected, as well as business applications being adapted for the home.

"There are certain business applications, like video conferencing, which will likely come into the home - so that people around the world can potentially get together virtually for Christmas," added the spokesperson.

The ISPA acts as the UK's voluntary trade association and has gained over 170 members throughout the UK, since its inception in 1995.
