ISP Ace Internet closes

Monday 24th September 2007, by Daniel King

UK broadband service provider Ace Internet has ceased trading after nine years in the industry.

The company has been embroiled in a bitter dispute with its supplier, Entanet, over billing costs during the month of August, which has hit finances and customer confidence.

Ace Internet cites "increased competition" for the closure. It is also understood that, according to the Insolvency Service, Ace Internet founder Stephen Daniels was declared bankrupt in June this year.

A message on its website reads: "We are sad to inform you that Ace Internet has now ceased trading. Unfortunately due to increased competition and recent events, it is no longer viable for us to continue to provide services. We would like to thank all our customers, both past and present, for your custom and support over the last nine years."

In related news, earlier this month, Entanet was chosen for an upcoming trial of BT's 21st Century Network broadband system.
