Motorola system provides "reliable and secure connectivity"

Motorola has explained how the use of one of its broadband networking systems is benefitting staff and students at one US-based learning institution.

The company has revealed that in order to provide a solution to its internet server requirements, The New York Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) at Stony Brook University is now using its technology.

As part of the school's new research and education facility, the Motorola 802.11n wireless LAN (WLAN) network has been deployed. Using the manufacturer's RFS7000 wireless switches and tri-radio AP-7131 802.11n access points, the company claims CEWIT is now enjoying "reliable and secure connectivity".

Dr Satya Sharma, executive director of the institution, said the Motorola system would allow for the significant expansion of its research projects.

"We chose to partner with Motorola because of the company's continued innovation in wireless technologies, their experience and expertise in designing and deploying wireless networks," he added.

Earlier this month, the manufacturer announced it would be showcasing some of its latest broadband developments at The Cable Show - which takes place at the Morial Convention Centre in New Orleans between May 18th and 20th.

Among the systems on display will be the DSR-6300, an integrated receiver decoder, as well as the Motorola CherryPicker platform - which offers low latency edge statistical muxing which can be used to make savings on bandwidth usage.

The B-3 video server, CASMR conditional access software application, BSR 64000 cable modem termination system and Follow Me TV TM multi-room DVR systems will also be available to view in action.
