New 4 TB solution unveiled for broadband users

Broadband users looking for a large-scale networking and storage solution may be interested in the latest announcement from Western Digital (WD).
The company unveiled a new product this week that claims to offer a safe backup option for PC and Mac computers that addresses a growing need for high capacity external disk space.
It is noted the redesigned version of the WD My Book World Edition II dual-drive network storage system has space for up to 4 TB of data and uses two mirrored RAID 1 drives for increased protection.
This means those who need a larger networking solution - such as small and medium-sized business broadband users - will have "an extra-safe place" to keep their media and documentation in a single, shared location.
However, a spokesman for WD said that it is not just professionals that are finding they need higher capacity drives for storing digital data and added the My Book World Edition II could provide a network storage solution for all types of consumer.
Dale Pistilli, vice-president of marketing for the firm's branded products group, said: "Families can relax knowing their valuable media is backed up while enjoying the ability to stream their content to a plethora of different devices from PCs and Macs to PS3s, Xbox 360s and the latest connected TVs."
Earlier this month, WD introduced a new 4 TB version of the My Book Studio Edition II dual-drive storage system, designed specifically for use with Mac computers.
The company's products are available online and in a number of selected retailers.
