O2 broadband success 'is unsurprising'

An expert has revealed that he is unsurprised by the success of O2's Broadband service.
The firm was named top provider in terms of customer satisfaction in a study by JD Power Associates last week, beating off competition from rivals including Sky and Virgin Media.
O2 was ranked first for both its mobile and fixed broadband offerings, with the results based on a range of criteria including performance, cost and technical support.
Thomas Newton of Broadband Finder said the outcome was testament to the hard work and high level of customer service achieved by the provider.
He noted that O2 had pledged not to "rush-release" their broadband service until they were sure that they could offer a good and reliable connection.
This decision has clearly paid off, as the research revealed a drop in the number of customer complaints and disruptions to broadband service across all providers during 2008.
"Given that O2 have taken their time to ensure their product is the best it can be
it's not surprising that their approach to selling broadband services correlates with an overall drop in complaints and service disruptions," Mr Newton said.
He also commended the firm for its policy of transparency with regard to download speeds and pointed to the USB modem which comes with the O2 Mobile Broadband package as a particularly strong offering.
The device has a built-in indicator that allows users to identify what speed they can expect to get in a particular area and changes when customers move to a location that offers faster connections.
