O2 dongle 'offers broadband almost anywhere' for

Mobile operator O2 has reduced the price of its broadband dongle from £29 to £20, which could tempt more Britons into signing up for anytime, anywhere internet access.
The dongle can be used to connect a laptop to the internet in any location with a mobile phone signal using O2's 3G network, which produces broadband speeds of up to 3.6 megabytes per second.
No contract or fixed-term deal is required - after the initial outlay, users pay either £2 per day, £7.50 per week or £15 for 30 days for using the broadband connection.
Users of the technology will also be offered access to more than 6,000 Wi-Fi spots across the country.
O2's dongle is compatible with personal computers and Apple Macs and is available in a range of colours.
The offer is likely to be of particular interest to those who work in a variety of locations, with the dongle able to connect instantly to broadband internet at a variety of locations.
Last year Niall Magennis reviewed one of O2's dongles - the Sierra Wireless Compass 885 - for the Trusted Reviews website.
He suggested that instead of taking the modem offered by a service provider, some users are better off shopping around for a high-quality top-speed model - of which the 885 was named as an example.
The article stated that O2's dongle provided "consistently good data rates and strong performance in weaker signal areas" which meant it had proved to be a "worthwhile purchase" for many of its users.
