Online shoppers 'are part of growing economy'

Broadband users who shop online are taking advantage of offers and marketing techniques used by an increasing number of retailers, according to industry body IMRG.
Although many internet consumers may be aware that shopping for items via their broadband connection is more convenient, more established brands are utilising the trend with special offers which could save web users money.
Director of operations at IMRG David Smith explained: "When retailers are online they have to be very consumer-centric because the consumer has the power now."
He added that shopping online for services such as flights was also popular, as customers could also save money by comparing prices easily.
A recent survey by Capgemini and IMRG has shown that over £4.5 billion was spent online during May this year - an increase of 1.6 per cent on the previous month and the equivalent of £731 per person.
