Online shopping set to boom this Christmas
Thursday 11th September 2008, by Daniel King
A recent study by IMRG has found that 68 per cent of people polled are more likely to purchase Christmas gifts on the internet.
With increased broadband speeds and larger numbers of people with access to the internet, more than 77 per cent of consumers will take up online shopping, reports Eclipse Internet.
The availability of a wide range of shops and the ease of finding bargains and low prices mean that online retail is set to do extremely well in the run-up to the next holiday season.
A high level of consumer satisfaction was also reported, with eight in ten saying they were happy with the delivery of products by online companies.
James Roper, chief executive of IMRG, commented: "The online route really drives consumer choice, which is great for those of us trying to maintain a champagne taste on a beer budget."
A study conducted by broadband.co.uk found that Eclipse Internet came in tenth in real-world broadband speeds with an average of 1.49 Mbps.
