Operax issues internet warning
Monday 26th November 2007, by Daniel King
Broadband resource firm Operax has warned that increasing resource allocation will not eliminate the issue of internet services slowing down over the course of the next few years.
A recent report from the Nemertis Research Group made clear that the scale of internet traffic is set to slow down the network by 2010 and Operax's experts have suggested that simple expansion is not the answer to the problem.
Operax insists that internet service providers must consider their response to the issue carefully and focus on making sure their networks are operating at maximum efficiency, VNUnet reports.
Chris Merrick, chief marketing officer at Operax, is quoted as saying: "Technology already exists whereby operators can view all the network resources they have in use at any one time and make sure that it is deployed in the most efficient manner.
"By this means, premium services can be allocated resources in real time to ensure quality for a particular session or service."
The recent report from Nemertis claimed that internet connection speeds could slow to such an extent that innovation worldwide is significantly impeded.
