PlusNet to boost email service

Wednesday 21st November 2007, by Daniel King

Customers of ISP PlusNet will soon be able to benefit from an improved email facility.

The company is set to make use of new technology to slash the amount of spam arriving in subscribers' inboxes, Web User reports.

Provided by email security firm Postini, the new filter will be implemented in early 2008 and will enable email users to manually add blacklisted addresses to the relevant list, as well as quarantine messages thought to be suspect.

"Our decision to team up with Postini is driven by our commitment to offer our customers the best possible broadband service," commented Neil Laycock, chief executive of PlusNet, which is owned by BT.

"Postini's record with email security speaks for itself and we are proud to be associated with them."

Earlier this month, PlusNet unveiled a new gaming server for the PlayStation 3, allowing both customers and non-customers to play multiplayer games for the console online.
