Scottish firms 'broadband savvy'

Scottish firms 'broadband savvy' Small and medium-sized firms in Scotland are more likely to have broadband connections than companies elsewhere in the country, a study has shown.

Research by broadcasting regulator Ofcom highlights that 67 per cent of businesses in Scotland have high speed broadband connections, compared with 64 per cent of firms in England.

Meanwhile, just over half of companies in Northern Ireland were found to be connected to broadband, while 47 per cent of Welsh businesses were found to have high speed connections.

In addition, more than half of all Scots living in urban areas said that they had access to broadband at home, while 45 per cent of people living in rural areas agreed.

Earlier this year, broadband provider BT announced that five regions in Scotland's had the highest uptake of broadband in the UK, with more than half of businesses and households in two areas being connected.
