Tiscali tops customer satisfaction poll

Internet service provider (ISP) Tiscali has come first in a survey to determine which broadband company offers the best service.
Conducted by research firm JD Power and Associates, the poll, published in the 007 UK Broadband Internet Service Provider Satisfaction Study report, shows that Tiscali has gone from third place in 2006 to first this year.
It scored 668 points out of 1,000 and was followed by Virgin Media with 660 points and Sky with 657 points in the rankings.
The report also suggested that performance and reliability are the most important factors for customers when judging how good a service they receive from their ISP, with customer service and cost following behind.
However, Caspar Tearle of JD Power noted that call waiting times for those trying to get help from their ISP are increasing.
"Complaints to customer service departments have risen again in 2007 and now outnumber customer service-related questions for the first time," he commented.
"With customers of most suppliers paying from their own pocket for these calls, these high levels of complaints come as no surprise."
Tiscali announced that it was to acquire the voice and broadband division of Pipex earlier this year.
