Virgin Media launches Dexter season 3 in HD

Virgin Media has announced it will offer the latest series of an award-winning US television show on its streaming on-demand service.
The network states subscribers can this week start to watch season three of Dexter in both standard and high definition (HD) formats.
Virgin Media TV Choice customers can access the shows between now and August 9th with the whole of the new series also being put up gradually on the V+ HD system "in all its gruesome goriness".
The series follows Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C Hall, who by day works for the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst and by night operates as a serial killer.
However, where the protagonist differs from the likes of Hannibal Lecter, Freddy Kreuger and Jason Vorhees is his adherence to a strict moral code - determining who his victims will be. As a result, Dexter sees himself as a man who rids society of criminals he believes should not be allowed to live.
The series has won a string of honours since it was first screened in 2006, picking up the AFI Award for TV Program of the Year as well as IGN's Best New Show, Best Actor, Best Villain and Best Character.
It has also since picked up two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Main Title Design and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series.
Katharine Burns Rivington, managing director of content acquisition and strategy at Virgin Media, said its services provide a flexible option for fans of all kinds of television - and this latest launch was representative of this.
"We're big fans of Dexter and are delighted to bring our customers such a great show in HD. This is just one example of our commitment to bringing more HD to our customers, be it via linear channels or our extensive on demand service," she added.
