Website winners announced

Some of the best websites available to broadband users have been announced in the annual .net Awards.

The winners included Russell Brand for Podcast of the Year, while Google Earth was rewarded with the Innovation of the Year title.

The awards also honoured viral campaigns, the new and popular way of advertising to broadband and other web users.

The winner of Viral Campaign of the Year was Will It Blend? from Blendtec which sees everything from iPods to lighters getting ground up in a blender in what turned out to be one of the most popular ever viral campaigns. According to?

Nods were also given to runners up The Simpsons Movie, Get the Glass, Cadbury and X Factor.

Further winners included Firefox, Facebook and Apple although MySpace was tagged with Infamy of the Year because of its design.

Dan Oliver, .net magazine editor, told the BBC: "Google and Facebook were always going to feature heavily but it was great to see some new faces being recognised as well."
