YouTube 'streamlines' search for visitors

One of the most popular video-sharing websites on the internet has made a change which may be welcomed by broadband users who find it difficult to navigate.
In a post for the official YouTube blog this week, it was noted visitors to the page will notice a new masthead at the top of the search area on its homepage that aims to improve their visit.
The redesign will provide a more "streamlined and simplified" option than the previous facility and the article went on to point out that the changes take into consideration what subscriptions, uploads and visited clips account holders may have in their preferences.
It added: "The left side is dedicated to exploration - finding videos to watch through search and browse. The right side is all about organisation of the videos that matter most to you."
YouTube also noted that very little else has been altered by way of removal, but Quicklist or Inbox items will not now appear on the homepage. Country and language pulldown menus have also been relocated to the foot of the page.
"Next up, we'll be focusing on giving you the controls to make the masthead more personalized," the blog concluded.
In other news, a new report posted by eMarketer this week revealed that online video consumption continues to rise and this is in line with the amount of money marketers are spending on the facility.
The firm predicted the market value for clip-based initiatives could quadruple to around $4 billion (£2.4 billion) by 2013.
