BT: ITV content for broadband users
Thursday 17th April 2008, by Daniel King
Broadband users will soon to be able watch programmes from the ITV library on demand, after an announcement from BT Media & Broadcast revealing its latest plans.
The company, part of the Global Services division of BT, will make a digital archive of ITV content so that it can be made available to viewers to watch at their leisure.
Technology director of ITV Richard Cross commented: "We are excited by the prospect of working together to give new audiences worldwide access to years of ITV's high-quality television."
BT has already made 20,000 ITV programmes available for broadband users - shows such as Inspector Morse - which can be downloaded from ITV.com.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that Vodafone UK will be working with BT to improve the broadband experience for mobile phone customers.
As part of a five-year deal, BT Wholesale will manage the connectivity between Vodafone base stations, which will use the latest Ethernet technology.
