BT scheme set to 'improve broadband'
Thursday 12th June 2008, by Daniel King
Broadband provider BT has announced it will be working to improve broadband speeds for those who sign up to its Home IT Support service.
The service, priced at £90, includes an investigation of reasons for the customer's slow broadband, which could include rewiring of sockets or PC adjustment, reports the BBC.
However, the report also highlights the fact that other issues could affect how fast broadband connections are for customers, such as the number of users online - which could mean the BT service does not help all users.
Speaking on behalf of JupiterResearch, Ian Fogg explained: "It may be that their speed goes up but only at certain times of the day."
Meanwhile, broadband users can ensure they get a better speed service by undertaking comparisons when looking for the best deals.
Customers can help get the right deal by using tools such as the bandwidth usage calculator from PlusNet, which allows users to see how much of their monthly allowance is used for different purposes, such as downloading music or playing games.
